The Young Musicians Development Organization (YMDO), Inc. was registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as a non-stock, non-profit corporation on September 19, 2005 by a group of incorporators who would want “to provide opportunities for the development of instrumental musical skills of talented children from a young age.” In particular, YMDO was “established to support and revitalize the Philippine Youth Symphonic Band (PYSB) tradition and strengthen the Filipino musician’s place in the market economy.”
YMDO provides free music education to exceptionally talented Filipino youths, thereby honing their skills for a productive life in the music industry; and to train and educate young talented musicians through weekly full band rehearsals, annual month long summer camps and regular concerts and recitals.
The Band engages in both free and paid performances around the country where they get regular and further training, and honing their skills not only in playing the instruments but most importantly performing with the band. Music is also important in the education of the children as it teaches discipline, patience and excellence.
