The Vicsal Foundation, Incorporated was registered with the SEC as a non-stock, non-profit corporation on February 20, 1996 by the Metro Gaisano Family as an expression of corporate social responsibility. It is a corporate operating foundation located at 5/F Metro Ayala Center, Cebu Business Park, Archbishop Reyes Ave., Cebu City. The foundation has one (1) regular staff, one ( 1) part-time staff, three (3) seconded staff from the Metro Gaisano Group of Companies and nine (9) members of the Board of Trustees.
Its purposes, among others, are “to sponsor scholarships to those students having the potential but cannot afford, to support the construction of school buildings, physical infrastructures, and any structure to be used for public service, to extend assistance or give donations to the underprivileged and victims of calamities and to assist the government in environment conservation projects.”
This is the fourth application of Vicsal Foundation for certification as donee institution. It was certified for one (1) year on April 4, 2007; three (3) years on Nov 8, 2008; and another three (3) years on April 30, 2012 which ended on April 16, 2015.
In the field of education, Vicsal offers tertiary scholarships for both college degrees and associate degrees. Since 2011 to 2015, 60 scholars earned university degrees and 34 associate degrees.
For SY2015-2016, Vicsal is supporting a total of seventy (90) scholars enrolled at different college levels.
For Environmental Conservation Projects, Vicsal in partnership with DENR, launched the Mangrove Tree Planting and Coastal Clean-up & Tree Planting which benefitted the residents of Barangay Daanlungsod, Oslob, Cebu and Brgy. Ibabao-Estancia , Mandaue City, respectively.
Among others, it has constructed 2 police stations and 4 school buildings in Cebu.
Its sources of income include donations from member corporations.
