U.P. Engineering Research and Development Foundation, Inc. (UPERDFI) was duly registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission on August 3, 1972 as a non-stock, non-profit organization to provide support to develop the technological competencies of the UP College of Engineering Center through Faculty Development, Research and Development, Laboratory Facilities, support staff and undergraduate and graduate studies. UPERDFI and its partners, the UP College of Engineering, UP National Engineering Center (NEC), and UP Alumni Engineers, continued to raise funds to support the scholarship programs, professorial chairs, faculty awards and NEC projects. It is a grant-making/research organization. Its main office is located at Room 218, Junio Hall, UP Diliman Campus, Diliman, Quezon City The foundation has 3 regular staff, 5 volunteers and 20 members of the Board of Trustees.
It was first certified for 5 years on April 20, 2004 and which ended on April 19, 2009. First Renewal was for 5 years on April 8, 2010 and which ended on January 28, 2015.
Its purposes, among others, are “to be a major player in building the technological competencies of the country in research and development, technology generation and manpower; to support in developing the technological competencies of the UP College of Engineering and the National Engineering Center thru faculty, facilities, support staff and students; and to develop/grow core of the engineering educators, support scholarships and engineering endeavors, conduct research and development innovation and technological development”. The Foundation’s programs focused on: Scholarship Grants, Professorial Chairs, Teaching & Research Grants; Faculty Award and Incentives; and Merit Awards.
Its sources of income include donations from alumni and corporations, endowment funds and interest income.
