The Society casually started when some Filipino and expatriate devotees started to meet weekly and privately in 2001 to discuss topics related to Vedanta called “Dialogs.” In 2002, these devotees invited Swami Medhasananda, the President of the Vedanta Society of Japan, to visit Manila and give spiritual guidance and assistance. Since then, Swami has visited Manila once or twice yearly to give free public discourses in various locations in NCR. Inspired by the Swami’s efforts, these devotees decided to establish the Society into a religious NGO in 2006 where it was formally inaugurated on 30 June 2007.
In 2008 a suitable location for the permanent seat was found in the Horseshoe village in Quezon City. After the property was repaired and refurbished in 2008, it became fully operational with Revered Swami Smarananandaji Maharaj, then Vice President of the Ramakrishna Math and Mission of India, formally dedicated the Society on 6 June 2010. The Society has since then been conducting both spiritual ministry and philanthropic work.
Since September 2016 the Society has been under the spiritual ministry of Swami Udaarananda, a monk of the Ramakrishna Order. Under his leadership, the Society has been operating along the ideals, aims, objectives, practices and systems of the said Ramakrishna Math and Mission, which is an international, non-political, non-sectarian, spiritual and philanthropic organization engaged in various spiritual, humanitarian, educational, general welfare, cultural and social service activities since 1897.
