Smile Train, Inc. based in New York, USA is the world’s leading cleft charity organization, Since 1999, Smile Train has provided 1.5 million plus surgeries in more than 90 countries. In the Philippines, its first partnership was forged with St. Elizabeth Hospital in General Santos City in 2001. Since then, the organization has been funding surgeries in the country by partnering with local surgeons and hospitals. The resources provided by Smile Train have been distributed to local partner institutions through grants.
In order to create a more sustainable model in the Philippines, the organization incorporated Smile Train Philippines Foundation, Inc. (STPFI) on April 19, 2016 with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Smile Train’s advocacy is to help people born with clefts, especially in the far-flung areas to live a normal and meaningful life.
