Regnum Cristi (Latin for “Kingdom of Christ”) is an Apostolic Federation (within the Catholic Church) comprised of four vocations: a) Legionaries of Christ (the priestly congregation); b) Consecrated Women of Regnum Christi; c) Lay Consecrated Men of Regnum Christi d) Lay Members of Regnum Christi. Regnum Cristi (RC) has a Christ-Centered spirituality that is lived together in communion with all members (all four vocations), in union with the whole Church, and through a mission to build the kingdom of Christ.
Regnum Cristi Programs Philippines, Inc. is registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission in 2016 as a non-stock non-profit organization. It is a religious movement of apostolate, which ardently seeks to establish the Kingdom of Christ among all people. The movement strives to be a witness to Christ, living our spirituality and mission as the Holy Spirit intended, with joy, humility, zeal, and passion for Christ. The movement offers a comprehensive methodology in developing apostleship which provides a pathway for deeper conversion and discovery of one’s apostolic mission aligned with the needs of the local Church.
Below is the timeline of Regnum Cristi/Legionaries of Christ mission in the Philippines:
1996 – an RC missionary couple (Carlos and Mercedes Gutierrez) was assigned to start RC in the Philippines (did not last long)
2001 – a second RC missionary couple (Marcelo and Maria Fiaes) was assigned. They started mission work: medical missions (Helping Hands) and evangelization missions (Mission Youth)
2005 – Filipino couple Ver and Nita Peña visited Mexico to learn more about Regnum Christi
2006 – The Legionaries of Christ were assigned to Manila
2007 – Regnum Cristi helped start Everest Academy together with the Consecrated Women of RC who were assigned to Manila
2008 – Mano Amiga Academy started
The Regnum Cristi Federation is made up of over 25,000 members throughout 38 countries world-wide. Regnum Cristi Philippines is under the Territory of North America.
