The PGH Medical Foundation, Inc. was organized in 1997 by the then PGH Director Dr. Antonio M. Montalban together with some concerned doctors of the hospital and prominent community leaders. It was conceived to assist the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) in achieving its noble mission of providing excellent health care for its indigent patients. It was registered as a non-stock, non-profit organization with the Securities & Exchange Commission on August 18, 1997. It receives donations coming from various civic-minded individuals, corporations, foundation and other funding agencies for the charity patients of PGH and to contribute to the infrastructure/facilities enhancement of the hospital. Its main office is located at the G/F Nurses Home Building, Philippine General Hospital Compound, Taft Avenue, Ermita, Manila.
Its purposes among others are “to be globally recognized philanthropic organization, a model among volunteer institutions for its support of the less-privileged Filipino through the services and projects with the Philippine General Hospital (PGH); and to be a responsible steward of generated funds, ensuring that these are optimally utilized for the intended purpose”. The foundation’s programs focused on the following: (1) The Charity Patients Medical Fund; (2) Provision of equipment and Supplies; (3) Infrastructure Development; and (4) Research and Training.
