The Norwegian Maritime Foundation of the Philippines, Inc. was registered with the SEC as a non-stock, non-profit corporation on April 3, 1990 by the members of the Norwegian Ship Owners’ Association. It was formed primarily to sponsor, support and maintain non-degree, special or continuing courses to upgrade the knowledge, qualification and training of Filipino seafarers working on board Norwegian-owned, managed or operated vessels in coordination with maritime institutions and enterprises in the Philippines and abroad. As such, the Foundation assists in the transfer of advanced maritime technological and scientific knowledge to qualified Filipino citizens and institutions.
It is an operating organization which grants scholarship to deserving Filipino students who would like to pursue the career as Seafarer. Its main office is located at 6/F Five Ecom Center, Pacific Drive Extension, Block 18, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City. The Foundation has its extension/branch office at NTCM Bldg., Gate 2 TESDA Complex, East Service Road, Taguig City.
Its purposes (V-M-G), among others, are “to train seafarers in the highest standards of safety and quality, and to promote excellence in maritime operations throughout the world”. The Foundation’s programs/projects now focus on the following areas: a.) Management of Maritime Training Center in Manila b.) Scholarship Program to deserving students c.) upgrading the facilities of their partner schools. The organization operates nationwide.
