Earth Day Network Philippines, Inc.

The Earth Day Network Philippines, Inc. (EDNPI) was registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as a non-stock, non-profit corporation on September 20, 2006 by a group of incorporators who wished to promote the celebration of Earth Day in the Philippines every April 22 in cooperation with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), business partners, various churches and civil society. On a year to year basis, the celebration revolves around an environmental focus and a theme. The focus usually depends on the most urgent environmental issue of the year. It ranges, among others, from reforestation, solid waste management, clean air, climate change and this year, water. EDNPI serves as the Secretariat for the Earth Day Network in the Philippines. Its main office is located at Suite E3, 3rd Floor, Agcor Bldg., 335 Katipunan Ave., Brgy. Loyola Heights, Quezon City. The foundation has 3 regular staff, 4 project-based staff, 12 volunteers, and 9 members of the Board of Trustees.

 

            It was first certified for 1 year on August 24, 2009 and which ended on August 23, 2010. Second certification was for 3 years on December 14, 2010 which ended on November 5, 2013.  On May 06, 2014, the organization was granted a three (3)-year certification which lapsed on  November 04, 2016. 

 

            Its purposes, among others, are “to work for the healing, the restoration and the preservation of the integrity of creation through meaningful and effective environmental programs and projects; to organize and coordinate meaningful annual Earth Day celebrations in the Philippines; to build a broad based citizen support for sound, workable and effective environmental work; and to promote and support the different programs and projects of the network members”.  Aside from the annual Earth Day celebration, the Foundation’s program focus on the following areas: Agos Ram Pump Project; TREES4Life; and Zero Basura Olympics.

 

            Its sources of income include donations from corporations and individuals, foreign grants, and interest income.
